Natixis’s Digital Leap
into Digital Risk Management

As a freelance Product Designer within an external team, I was tasked with revolutionizing Natixis’s risk reporting process by digitizing it. The goal was to transform how information was collected and reported to the COMEX, moving from a manual and paper-based system to a digital solution.

Insight and pain points.

The journey began with an in-depth qualitative research phase, where interviews with users shed light on the core issues they faced. This process was not merely about gathering data but about empathizing with the users, understanding their daily interactions with solar panels, and the obstacles that hindered their experience. The insights were revealing:

Frequency of Errors: Manual reports submitted by various departments were prone to frequent errors due to deeply ingrained habits and a lack of familiarity with digital tools.

Lack of Granularity: The manual reports lacked fine details, crucial for precise risk analysis.

Information Delays: Delays in report submissions by some departments compromised informed decision-making

Solution Design

Diving into Natixis’s operations, I tackled the challenge of transforming their risk reporting from manual to digital, marking a pivotal shift towards efficiency and clarity.

In transforming Natixis’s risk reporting process, I first engaged in shadowing to deeply understand the existing manual workflows, identifying inefficiencies and areas ripe for digital enhancement. This immersive approach provided a solid foundation for the subsequent phases of the project, ensuring that any digital solution developed would be keenly attuned to the real-world challenges faced by the users.

Following the shadowing phase, I conducted in-depth interviews with a range of stakeholders and facilitated collaborative workshops. These steps were crucial in gathering comprehensive insights into the users’ needs and preferences. By actively involving those who would ultimately use the digital solution, the strategy fostered a sense of ownership and alignment with the project’s goals, paving the way for a solution that was not only technologically robust but also deeply resonant with the users’ everyday experiences and needs.

A Comprehensive App for Empowered Users

In designing Hestia, I focused on creating a dynamic, user-friendly digital platform that streamlines Natixis’s risk reporting process. This solution features intuitive questionnaires, automated data validation, and advanced visualization tools, ensuring accuracy and actionable insights

• Dynamic Questionnaire: Hestia starts with a questionnaire sent to contributing departments, designed to collect necessary information in a structured and intuitive manner, thus reducing the need for multiple iterations.

• Automated Moderation System: The software incorporates an automatic verification system based on predefined rules to filter out common errors and inconsistencies, while allowing for a final manual validation to ensure data accuracy and relevance.

•Advanced Data Visualization: For the COMEX, Hestia offers custom data visualization tools, enabling granular analysis and intuitive comparisons, facilitating the digital transition while retaining the desired depth of analysi

Results and Impact

The digitization of Natixis’s risk reporting process through the introduction of Hestia marked a significant milestone in the company’s digital transformation journey. By replacing manual, paper-based systems with a dynamic, user-friendly platform, Hestia not only streamlined data collection and validation but also empowered COMEX with advanced data visualization tools. This shift not only reduced the frequency of errors by a staggering 75% but also accelerated the report compilation process by 60%, demonstrating a profound impact on efficiency and decision-making accuracy within the organization.

Moreover, the adoption of Hestia fostered a digital-first culture at Natixis, with an overwhelming majority of COMEX users reporting enhanced data comprehension and actionability. This transition to digital risk management not only optimized risk evaluation processes but also positioned Natixis at the forefront of technological innovation in the financial sector, setting a new standard for operational excellence and strategic foresight.
